When I think about leaving Utah...one of the biggest things I will never forget is the kindness that the Wardle fam has shown to me. They have taken me in as one of their own and I have always felt welcome in their home. I have enjoyed spending time with them on holidays, at weekend dinners, at sporting events, etc.

Thinking of leaving such dear
We met bright and early Wednesday morning to head down to the small town of Eureka where they put on the best 4th of July celebration. They pick up all the kids in fire trucks and then everyone heads to the school for races, water balloon fights, snacks and fun:)
Amber + James in the potato sack race!
Dillon smoking the competition in the potato sack!
Rachelle and Dillon...3 legged race extraordinaires!
Epic Chicken chase!
The festivities were followed by the most delicious meal hosted by Rachelle's grandparents ...including my favorite pretzel salad that her grandma makes:)
Overall it was an amazing day. Another one added to the long list I will never forget.

What a wonderful way to celebrate the holiday.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful holiday and a very special friendship! SO much fun!
ReplyDeletetrue friends will always be with you...no matter where you reside. I know this firsthand!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you and Rachelle have a very special and unique friendship...You are both very lucky!!!
I love the last pic of the two of you...what's in that pretzel salad btw??? sounds yummy!!!
Looks like you had a fabulous fourth! Love that quote about friends and family - I have no doubt that you will find another wonderful set of people on your next big adventure too!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great 4th of July! I bet it is a little hard to leave Utah and all of the awesome friends you have met. I love the hats you and Rachelle found, those are so funny!
ReplyDeleteJulia, you have a great blog! I am also a runner and fellow DM'er. I am trying to train for my second marathon and I would love to do a 50 miler someday. I see you have one on your schedule...that's awesome...so inspirational!
ReplyDeleteAhhh, I get tears in my eyes reading this. It's gonna be so hard to leave I'm sure but you know as well as I do that friends stick like glue and we're always here. BTW, you look sexy in that hat friend! HAHAHAHA! OMG it made me smile.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh friend I was practically in tears reading this until I read "I even won .15 cents for my efforts" and I busted up laughing hysterically. That day is one I will never forget. I loved every second of it and I love that I have been able to share my family with you. We are a crazy bunch but boy do we love you so very much. I totally finally allowed myself to have a melt down last night about you leaving (tears and everything-I never cry!) and after I let out all of my emotions I realized two things. First that I am so thankful for the many memories we have shared and that I am so lucky to have had you in my life through such difficult times. And second that no matter the distance between us we will always be friends and we will always support each other no matter what.
ReplyDeleteSorry for the long comment but I just wanted to share my reflections. I know for a fact that wherever you are I will make it a priority to visit and I am excited!
Julia this seriously made me cry. We love you so much and do consider you family. I feel so comfortable around you. I wish you the best in your future but will for sure miss having you around.
ReplyDeleteI love that last quote! Looks like you had such an awesome time!!! Oh and in response to your comment on my blog....You have exactly what it takes to run those 50 miles inside you!!! Just put one foot in front of the other and you are going to tackle that goal!!!!
ReplyDeletelooks like a beautiful day and bittersweet! While you are moving far away the world is so much easier these days to stay in touch!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you had such a wonderful day. It's true, it is so hard to move away from wonderful friends... but they will always be there for you and I just know there are wonderful new ones waiting to meet!
ReplyDeleteWOW! $0.15?!?! Rockstar!
ReplyDeleteOn a serious note, it breaks my heart to see that you have to leave Rachelle and her family. I have gotten to know both of you and the dynamic duo over the past year and it's so hard to see even for ME! You two were lucky to have each other. Just because you are moving, it doesn't mean goodbye. I can tell you two have such a strong relationship and you will be forever friends.
I am so happy you were able to celebrate with Rachelle and her family. What a great way to put a close to your time in Utah. You have new and incredible adventures waiting for you and I can't wait to hear all about them!
y'all are lucky to have each other! glad you had a great 4th!
